# Study Guild

> Study Guild is a free, shared flashcard community. Members join guilds (one shared flash card deck per subject), add and improve cards, vote the best ones up, and study them with spaced repetition (the Leitner system), climbing every card from F-Rank to S-Rank.

## How it works

- A guild is a shared pool of cards on one subject, at https://studyguild.my/guilds/{slug}. Anyone signed in can add a card or improve any card's wording; each edit is a new version, and learners who already hold a card keep the wording they learned.
- A guild asks each question once. A card that asks what an existing card asks (by meaning) with the same answer is stopped: the existing card is shown with an offer to upvote it instead, and the member can still add theirs if it asks something else. A card that differs in a scenario word ("already", "without", "after") or in its answer goes in, flagged as similar.
- Joining a guild creates the member's stack: a few new cards a day (the flow rate, in order or shuffled, above a chosen minimum score) plus every card the member writes.
- Leitner ranks: F-Rank Recruit (review daily), D-Rank Apprentice (every 2 days), C-Rank Adept (4 days), B-Rank Vanguard (8 days), A-Rank Elite (16 days), S-Rank Legend (mastered, checked every 30 days). A correct answer on a due card climbs one rank; a miss drops the card back to F-Rank.
- Streaks, a daily goal, Guild XP levels and a public contributor leaderboard (https://studyguild.my/leaderboard) keep score. Authors earn the score of their cards.
- Guilds are public: every card can be read without an account. A member keeps the rights to what they write and licenses it to the guild; a card is theirs to delete while its score is 0 or below, and belongs to the guild once voted up (https://studyguild.my/terms).

- Tools: list_guilds, get_guild, search_cards, create_guild, add_card, add_cards (up to 50 at once), update_card, update_cards (up to 50 at once), delete_card, upload_image, get_image_upload_url, vote_card.
- add_card and add_cards report duplicates as results with the matching card and can_override, never as errors; upvote the match with vote_card instead of rephrasing it, or resend with distinct_from: [card_id] when the card asks something else. Saved cards next to a similar one carry similar_to. update_card and update_cards take distinct_from too.
- update_card and update_cards improve existing cards (send only what changes); a rewrite into a different fact is refused. Only a card's author may change its links or images.
- delete_card removes a card for good; only its author may, and only while its score is 0 or below.
- upload_image stores a picture from a public image URL or base64 data and returns an image_id for front_image_id or back_image_id. For a file in a sandbox, get_image_upload_url returns a signed link (30 minutes) to PUT it to with curl -T; the answer carries the image_id.
